Borrowing a book from Jesmond Library is easy and completely free. In order to sign up, all you need to bring to the library is:
• Photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence
• Proof of address, such as a utility bill.
Once you are registered as a member on our computer system, you will be able to borrow books without needing a library ticket.
As a registered charity we aim to secure grants and/or sponsorship, but in order to create a sustainable future for Jesmond Library we also need your financial support. Ways in which you can become a Friend of Jesmond Library include:
In our first few months, well over 100 Founder Members got Jesmond Library off to a great start with donations of £100 or more. The names of all Founder Members are recorded in the entrance to the library (unless we have been asked otherwise). To allow us to claim Gift Aid on your donation please fill out the form below and return it to the library.
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the library, we are asking regular subscribers for donations of at least £20 per family per year (or £2 per month), preferably by Standing Order through your bank. This will give us the confidence to plan for a long-term future, knowing that we can rely on the continuing support of our Friends. Once again, if you are eligible, please also complete a Gift Aid declaration and return it to the library. If you would like to make one or both of these pledges please fill out the forms available below, or from the library, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for further information.
The Standing Order form should be signed and submitted to your own bank; the Gift Aid form should be handed in at the library (or posted through the letter box in the back lane). Even if you are not submitting a Gift Aid form, please let us know that you have set up a Standing Order – we like to know who are friends are!
We are always looking for volunteers to help, whether you can spare a couple of hours a week or a month, everything helps to keep this much valued service open and running. Call into the library to fill out a form or download our volunteer application form:
Both the main room and the community room (the Catherine Cookson Room) of Jesmond Library are available to hire. If you would like to use either of these spaces for running an activity or holding a meeting, contact us on email@example.com for more information on prices and availability.
